Diesel locomotive 108 001 of the railway company of the German Democratic Republic (Deutsche Reichsbahn).

In contrast to the class 110, the class 108 locomotives have a reversing gearbox and a consumption-optimized engine with reduced power.

In accordance with the new purpose as a shunting locomotive, the boiler could also be omitted and additional radiator groups and a preheater were installed in its place.
